Naval Base Point Loma (NBPL) held a ribbon cutting for the official opening of the new fitness area and children's playgorund on Monday, 11 April.  The $275K project was a joint venture between NBPL and Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) and took four months to complete.

The Playground equipment was specially designed for NBPL by Gina Hill of PlayMart Inc and Rebecca Shepard Active Systems, Inc. and is part of NBPL's Main Base Waterfront vision Quality of Life (QOL) improvement plan.  Completion of this project, represents nearly $3M upgrade investment in our Main Base Fitness/Park facilities

There are more QOL improvements coming throughout the rest of the year.  The Main Base Recreation Center, also known as "The Hub," will have a grand re-opening next month after several improvements.  Other future projects include the installation of a synthetic surface on the lower softball field and the conversion of the tennis court into a basketball court.
