A ribbon cutting ceremony was held June 15 onboard Naval Base San Diego (NBSD) to celebrate the opening of new spaces for Navy Band Southwest.

SAN DIEGO-- More than 500 Sailors, family members, and members of the community collaborated June 11 for Naval Base San Diego’s (NBSD) bi-annual Main Street Clean Up event.

In 2010, NBSD completed its Photovoltaic Projects. These solar energy systems are expected to generate approximately 570 MW. This photo shows the Photovoltaic Carport on the “wet side” of NBSD.

Aging waterfront structures and a substandard basketball court were transformed into a first-class multi-use outdoor work-out facility including a synthetic ¼ mile running track, full-size modern basketball court, workout stations and picnic areas; providing a convenient workout area on the waterfront.

SAN DIEGO-- Naval Base San Diego (NBSD) was announced as the winner of the Fiscal Year 2010 Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Environmental Award for Sustainability Feb. 17.

Naval Base San Diego is the hub and home for Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Response (HA/DR) efforts that bring comfort and hope to countries and communities around the world. The 59 home-ported ships, 120 tenant commands, and 30,000 Navy personnel and their families who call the base their home, are ambassadors for the United States through the Navy whenever they provide relief to those in need.
