Breast Cancer 3-day walkers need support
Support paticipants as they walk through San Diego in 60 mile, life-changing event
Thousands of men and women will soon fill the streets for the 2008 San Diego Breast Cancer 3-Day, a 60-mile, three-day journey that raises millions of dollars for breast cancer research, education, and community outreach programs. Community members not participating in the Breast Cancer 3-Day are encouraged to support the thousands of walkers and volunteer crew members. Here are five ways you can be part of the Breast Cancer 3-Day coming to San Diego Nov. 21-23.
1) Give Them a Hand – When you see Breast Cancer 3-Day participants walking through your community, give them a standing ovation. Cheer, clap, wave, or honk your horn to let them know you appreciate their efforts.
2) Visit a Cheering Station – Make a sign and visit one of the official Cheering Stations along the route. A little encouragement goes a long way. Locations are posted at www.The3Day.org.
3) Make a Donation – You can still donate to a walker or make a general donation at www.The3Day.org. The money raised will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund for research, education, and community outreach programs.
4) Create a Sign – Walkers will journey through various neighborhoods over the course of three days. In case your neighborhood is on the route, make a sign or be prepared to offer ice or a run through your hose to help keep walkers cool and motivated.
5) Check it Out – Visit the Opening or Closing Ceremony to see what the Breast Cancer 3-Day is all about, while showing the walkers you care.
